Year 1 Apple Class
Apple Class Update
Dear Apple class parents,
Apple class have had a fantastic first couple of weeks back at school. We have been working hard to understand the new Year 1 routine and creating a list of rules to ensure we have a happy learning environment.
Maths: In maths we have been working on recognising and counting numbers to 10 and ensuring all our digits are written the correct way around. Next week we will be comparing and ordering orders– do explore the following link with your child to support this further: How to order numbers - BBC Bitesize.
English: In English we looked at our baby photos and wrote a sentence about the photo. The focus was on recognising capital letters and full stops in our sentences. We then focused on Goldilocks and the three bears and sequenced this story to show our understanding. Next week in English we will be planning and writing our own shorter version of Goldilocks and the three bears.
Topic: Linking with our topic of Memory box, we compared old and new toys in our History lesson. In Science, we looked at the different body parts on a human. In history, we will be moving onto discussing how transport has changed over time.
Additional information: Homework will be set next week (Tuesday 21st) once all parent/carers have joined Apple class on Showbie. An orange homework book will come home and can stay at home. Your child can either complete the work using the Showbie writing/drawing tools on the computer, or you can print the sheet, put it in their orange homework book and upload a photo of the work onto Showbie.
Thank you to all Apple class parents and carers again for your ongoing support with your child’s learning – it really is making a difference.
