The Learning Fund
The Learning Fund is a registered charity set up in 2007 to raise money to fund equipment needed to facilitate our children’s learning. It provides the opportunity for parents to make a regular monetary contribution to our school with tax being reclaimed under the Gift Aid scheme. It is particularly useful for those parents who would like to support the school but who cannot easily support the fund-raising efforts of “The Friends” due to work commitments.
Funds are typically spent during the academic year in which they are collected, so that contributors can be assured that there will be a direct impact on their own children’s learning. Over the years the Learning Fund has funded a new maths scheme, dictionaries for the whole school, reading scheme books, curriculum software for use in the classroom, music lessons/instrument hire for all pupils in Year 5, a badminton set as well as money for each class teacher to spend on resources for the class.

The Giving Machine
The Giving Machine is a simple way of raising funds for our school and doesn’t cost you a penny.
All you need to do is go to the Giving Machine website and register your details, selecting St Lawrence Primary School, Effingham as your beneficiary.
Then, every time you shop on-line, just go to the Giving Machine website first and then select your favourite on-line shop (Amazon, M&S, Tesco, Argos and lots more) and shop as normal.
The school receives a percentage of what you spend but it doesn’t cost you anything at all.
There are no catches – they won’t pass on your details to any other organisations and it doesn’t cost you more to do your shopping – there’s really no reason not to do it! You can even download the Giving Machine toolbar as a reminder (it sits just below your normal browser and doesn’t interfere with it at all).
