The Friends of St Lawrence primary school is a group of parents/carers with children at the school which organises the social and fundraising activities. As a parent/carer of a child at St Lawrence you are automatically a member of The Friends and are welcome to join any meetings, fundraising events and social evenings.

Each year in September, The Friends have an Annual General Meeting (AGM). A committee is elected by parents/carers to organise and run events for the academic year. The committee comprises Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, two representatives per class, a staff representative plus other interested parties.

The key positions this year are:

  • Chair - Sarah Stanton
  • Secretary – Maria Tuthill and Holly Taylor
  • Treasurer – Hannah Birch

Over the past 3 years, the Friends have financed the refurbishment of the KS1 outdoor learning area, provided new equipment for the playground, purchased KS1 & KS2 reading books, financed the Library refurbishment stage 1, provided additional resources for Forest school, furnished the new Hazel Hut, bought a class set of iPads, refurbished the ELSA room with new resources and comfy seating, purchased the contact diaries for all children and supported workshops including the very popular skipping workshop.  Additionally, the committee has agreed to fund an additional canopy so that further outdoor learning can take place, furnish the new library extension which we hope to see finished in 2018 and is in discussion to fund the installation of an outdoor slide in the bank on the field.

We are always looking for new ideas to raise money and events to keep the children entertained and we always need help in organising and running the various events throughout the year.

The Friends currently meets once a month with the meeting typically lasting up to 1.5 to 2 hours, during which time we review past activities, discuss upcoming events, discuss expenditure requests and brainstorm new fundraising ideas.  We would love to see you there. If you can’t make it but still want to contribute to The Friends, then please do contact us on the thefriendsofstlawrence@gmail.com.

We also have a Facebook page where we regularly post about up and coming events.   This is open for current parents and carers only and is a closed group.  If you have children in the school and wish to join the facebook group, then please do find us by searching for 'Friends of St Lawrence Primary school' and requesting to join.

Additionally, there is a regular Friends newsletter which is emailed out by the office. Any communication for The Friends can be left in the school post box or you can e-mail thefriendsofstlawrence@gmail.com

We are incredibly proud of all that we have been able to support the school with and the impact we have made on the children’s school experience.    Please do support us with our future fundraising, every little bit of help can make a huge difference.
